Cosmology and Night Sky Intensive, Faywood Hot Springs

September 21 @ 5:00 pm - September 28 @ 5:00 pm PDT

Cosmology and Night Sky Intensive

In-Person Certification Level Event (Course 04)

September 21-28 2025

Faywood Hot Springs, New Mexico

Facilitated by Daniel Giamario and Gemini Brett

Faywood Hot Springs is the perfect location for a cosmology / night sky intensive.

In the early 2000s, Daniel designed and had built a large stone circle on a hilltop with a magnificent 360-degree horizon view. See his article here!

We will be gathering at the time of the New Moon, and perfectly timed to witness Equinox Sunrise and Sunset. As we are still in peak Lunar Standstill season, a special and long-anticipated activity later in the week will be placing the final four stones in the circle that mark the Lunar Standstill stations.

Daniel has been a hot springs lover his whole life and considers Faywood to be the finest hot springs in America. Clothing optional, clothing required, and private pools are all available and included in the stay. TOTAMS has the great pleasure of Gemini Brett co-facilitating this intensive with Daniel. A night sky wizard and great starry-teller, he and Daniel recently created the updated version of Course 04 in the TOTAMS Full Certification Program. Click here for details.

Although this course can be applied towards Full Certification as a TOTAMS Astrologer, anyone who loves the night sky, cosmology, our community, stone circles and hot springs is welcome to join. This will be the longest night sky / cosmology intensive that the school has ever presented.

This event includes options of cabins, camping, and RV space. The group size will be limited to 22 participants plus facilitators and staff. There is an abundance of RV and camping space but only 8 cabins. Registration details and pricing available soon. Accommodation bookings have to be made in advance directly with Faywood Hot Springs Resort. However, there is a liberal cancellation policy. Consider joining us, and book your spot as soon as possible.

Disposition of the Sun, Moon and Visible Planets

Sun: The Sun will be at the September equinox on Monday at 12:20PM. Monday
morning and evening are perfect for ceremonial sunrise and sunset.
Sunrises range from 6:58AM to 7:03AM
Sunsets range from 7:08PM to 6:59PM

Moon: The Moon will traverse Libra through Sagittarius and will be Out-of-Bounds
on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Just before we arrive is the New Moon and a partial
Solar Eclipse at 1:54PM on Sunday at 29Virgo05(not visible in New Mexico).
Therefore the whole week will be a slowly waxing Moon. One of the central
intentions of our group is the placement of the Lunar Standstill stones, which will be
a feature of Friday and Saturday.

Mercury: In the Leo Overstory, Mercury begins our week off the world stage in the psychopomp phase on the other side of the Sun. On Thursday, Mercury enters the Second Guardian of the Threshold Phase, and possibly may be seen appearing on the Western horizon.

Venus: Now on her descending journey in the Pisces Overstory, Venus beams brightly as a morning star 24-26degrees from the Sun. She entered the 6tgate just before our event on September 19 at 29Leo59. This portal is connected to the 2nd chakra. Venus is moving through the stars of the Lion constellation, having just
passed Regulus, the Heart of the Lion. Venus will soon end her descending journey  and enter the Underworld on November 25, to meet-up with Venus, who is journeying to the underworld from the opposite side of the sky.

Mars: Mars is continuing his journey across the evening sky in the Phase Two Questing Phase of his Cancer Overstory. Mars is 29-30 degrees from the Sun. We will experience a notable event on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, as the Moon conjuncts Mars. The exact conjunction is at 5:56AM MDT Wednesday morning at 01Scorpio27. Mars is slowly exiting the Priestess constellation and moving into the Scales. This is the 6th Moon-Mars conjunction in Phase Two, with one more to go. Mars enters the Underworld on November13.

Note: This is a significant time-frame in the currently unfolding story of the journeys of Venus and Mars that we call the Underworld Saga. This pattern happens every 6 and a half years, but not in the same signs or season. The current pattern was last seen 32 years ago in the same signs and season.

Jupiter: Slowly rising as a morning star, high above Venus, Jupiter is moving through the Twins with Pollux and Castor nearby. He is 69-73degrees from the Sun.

Saturn: Saturn will be able to be seen pretty much all night, having reached opposition, just before our class begins. Saturn will rise at sunset set at sunrise. Saturn will be quite close to the Vernal Equinox, and serves as a convenient magic marker for learning the location in the sky where the ecliptic and the celestial equator intersect.

Notable Aspects

A Sun-Saturn opposition and a New Moon with a partial eclipse will have happened just before we gather.
October 23 6:53AM MDT: Sun at 0Libra45 in Opposition to Neptune at 0Aries45
October 23 8:55PM MDT: Sun Trine Uranus: 00Libra19–00Gemini19
October 24 12:05AM MDT: Sun Trine Pluto: 01Libra27–01Aquarius27
October 24 5:52AM MDT: Mars Square Pluto: 01Scorpio27–01Aquarius27Rx

5:56AM MDT: Moon Square Pluto:
5:56AM MDT: Moon conjunct Mars: 01Scorpio27

Weather

Always unpredictable in these times, usually conditions are dry humidity and very little rain. The average range of temperatures is from 54F at night to 84F during the day.

TOTAMS WELLNESS POLICY for In-Person Events

In support of our commitment to locate and provide knowledge and nourishment to “Seed People,” the Turning of the Ages Mystery School shall strive to, whenever possible, maintain a tradition of gathering in-person to hold school events and trainings. During our in-person events or gatherings, it will be our goal to encourage personal connection, togetherness, and communication as natural, organic human beings. We will not require masking or social distancing, however, if local regulations unexpectedly change, we will re-examine the structure of the event in question. As TOTAMS resolutely stands for personal freedom and inclusion, we strive to support a model that does not contribute to the bifurcation and separation that is rampant in our society. Should you become ill prior to or during any in-person event, certainly taking appropriate measures to care for yourself and others are encouraged, just as they have always been. In light of the sometimes physical and psychological discomfort that some experience when gathering in groups, please be aware that we do not require our participants to disclose their vaccination or health status. Our experience is that the majority of those attending our events will not have received any “Covid-19 vaccinations.” Should any of this be of concern, please take this knowledge into account before you choose to attend. When choosing to attend one of our in-person events, it is our expectation that each participant will take personal responsibility for their own health, and agree to not hold TOTAMS or any of the event organizers or facilitators liable should they become ill during or immediately following the event. Should this policy be unclear, please reach out to Daniel, Shiva or Lizzie, for clarification.
