The most most important phase of the currently unfolding Venus-Mars Underworld Saga is fast approaching. Both planets are rapidly sinking towards opposite horizons. Mars is already lost in the evening dusk at only magnitude 1.6, now very far from Earth. Here is the situation as of November 2:
Venus
At 23Libra45 and still visible in the morning sky at dawn, Venus is 16degrees from the Sun, in conjunction with Spica, the Alpha star of the Priestess constellation. Venus has been quickly moving through the Priestess stars, and will soon pass into the Scales. She ingresses the sign of Scorpio on November 6, then moves through the balance beam of the Scales constellation between November 18-23. On November 18, she reaches the 8th descending gate of her Pisces Overstory at 15Scorpio22, less than 12degrees from the Sun. Using the 10-degree-orb protocol, she enters the exterior underworld on November 25. Just after moving within 10degrees of Mars on December 18, on December 22 she will pass by the Galactic Center (27Sagittarius12).
During these last weeks before entering the Underworld and joining up with Mars in this Underworld Saga, Venus is receiving guidance from the ancient mystery school of the pre-patriarchal Sacred Feminine, before entering the balance beam of the Scales at her 8th portal, known as Death by Intent. This reminds us that the primary intention of her underworld journey is to grieve the end of the previous age. In this Saga, Mars is having a similar journey.
Mars
Just now at 28Scorpio09, though still 19degrees from the Sun, for all practical purposes, Mars is lost to visibility, including the three alignments with Mercury on October 16, November 12, and January 17. He enters the sign of Sagittarius on November 4, positioned at the carapace of the Scorpion constellation. Using the 15-degrees-from-the-Sun protocol, his Underworld journey begins on November 13 at 6Sagittarius42. On November 19, Mars passes Antares, the heart of the Scorpion. After moving through the Scorpion constellation, on December 10 he also reaches the Galactic Center, just before coming within 10degrees of Venus on December 18.
On his way to the exterior Underworld, Mars passed through the Scales, and has now been gaining final counsel from the stars of the Scorpion, known as the guardian of the Golden Gate, which is Galactic Center. From the perspective of the Sacred Masculine, his sojourn in the Underworld is a match with that of Venus. His decision and intention to experience such a profound surrender, is to unfold the necessary vulnerability and humility to truly serve the people, with compassion and nurturance.
The Venus-Mars Saga
The pattern of the Underworld Saga of Venus and Mars happens every 77 months, but in these signs and these seasons it happens only every 32 years! Venus in her Pisces Overstory and Mars in his Cancer Overstory unite on January 7 at 18Capricorn09, within hours of their conjunction with the Sun. They remain within 10degrees of each other until January 30. Venus rises in the evening sky on February 17, and Mars in the morning sky on March 16.
In light of all the other remarkable and unprecedented astrological and cosmological happenings, this dance of Venus and Mars tends to be overlooked. That would not have been true for our ancient predecessors, with no knowledge of the outer planets or of how we moderns understand precession. They projected their myths, stories and ceremonials on what they were seeing. Now, we need to do the same, and come up with new stories and ceremonials. I find this of extreme importance, particularly with how it relates to the Inner Sacred Marriage Process, and the evolution of authentic archetypes of the Sacred Masculine and Sacred Feminine, at this Great Turning of The Ages.
