This month’s New Moon is a Partial Solar Eclipse reaching maximum around 6:46am ET on Saturday, March 29, at 9°00″ Aries.
March 2025, according to Bibhu Dev Misra, marked the end of the Kali Yuga, and this past Aries Equinox point, March 20 2025, has been suggested as the exact date for that. This important point is bookended by two eclipses, the first a South Node eclipse (an invitation to bring the shadow of the past to the surface in order to be composted) the second, this Saturday, a North Node eclipse and an opportunity to welcome new visions and possibilities for the future. This is a truly amazing line up of events astrologically speaking. Here we are now at this New Moon Eclipse point, a huge opportunity for us all to vision for the future we want.
The chart for the New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse is full of meaning and symbolism for this turning point. Saturn, Neptune and the North Node are still journeying together in the same area of the sky between 24° and 29° of Pisces. Venus joined the Pisces parade on March 27, and has now reached 28°48″. On the same morning as the Solar Eclipse, she will make her heliacal rise in her new overstory of Pisces. Later in the day Mercury will also ingress into Pisces, preparing to begin it’s new Pisces overstory on April 7 when it finally goes direct. Yes, that is a lot of Pisces!
Pisces is a symbol of endings and of dissolving, meanwhile this North Node Solar Eclipse in Aries, a fire sign that represents beginnings, the spark of life, the sprout bursting through the soil. Eclipses are often seen as seed points for at least the coming 6 months. There is so much potential here for a massive turnaround for humanity. The question is, are we willing to allow the old to fully dissolve? Can we say yes to entering that liminal space, to crossing the bardo and stepping into a new future that is completely unknown? The invitation is there, we have the help of that remarkable line up in Pisces to encourage us to say “I don’t know, and that’s okay”. As are the teachings of Pisces, we must trust and fully surrender into the not knowing, into the realm of liminality so that all of our old beliefs and paradigms can release their grip on us. We must do this honestly and completely. From here, another possibility is given a chance and a way in. It is in that place we can really receive the new vision.
The other notable aspects for this New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse are to Mars, our beloved Sacred Masculine. Mars is still in his vulnerable ‘Birth and Emergence’ phase of the new Cancer overstory. This New Moon, Saturn, Venus and the North Node in Pisces and Vesta in Scorpio are ALL in a trine to Mars. Trines are flowing and harmonious. I’m leaning into the idea that all that water is coming in to offer a tender rocking embrace to the Sacred Masculine that exists in all of us, massively distorted by thousands of years of increasing patriarchal hijacking and deeply in need of a space to heal and to rediscover his essence. A square aspect from Chiron is adding to this flavor, perhaps allowing for some practical hands on healing to happen simultaneously. Since these are some of the only obvious aspects present in this chart, I am feeling clear within myself where some of my attention will be going as I enter a ceremonial space on Saturday morning.
Ceremonially, this New Moon feels deeply potent. Our celestial guides are pointing the way more than ever. I love the suggestion from Daniel Giamario to embrace the hours and minutes leading up to maximum eclipse to really allow the shadow to come to the surface. For some of us this will be happening before dawn, maybe that’s even better… use the time as the Sun is diminishing to truly face those shadowy aspects, especially if you are someone who is directly impacted by this eclipse due to it’s placement on your Natal Chart. Look for planets or points within 5°- 9°00″ of Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn. If this is you, you are what we call ‘on the front lines’ for this Eclipse. If you do not have planets or points there, that does not mean you cannot do this important work also, we are all here together on Earth. You just might not feel it as personally and maybe more on the collective level. As the Sun begins to come back, we enter a visionary seed point. Remember that since this is a New Moon, already a seed point in our monthly cycle, we may consider this Moon as a ‘Super New Moon’ ~ all the more potent. Maintain your ceremonial space through the end of the Eclipse, (which in the East Coast will be at 7:06 am) I recommend https://www.timeanddate.com to find your local timings. Use that visionary space to call in the future we do want, for yourself, for humanity, for all living beings, for the Earth. You will not be alone in this 24 minute portal!
Blessings on your journey!
