Highlight Seminar: Grief
with Daniel Giamario and Mary Kern
Many teachers and groups have recently been placing attention on personal as well as ancestral trauma, and rightly so. Somewhat less explored is the experience of grief, as in deep sorrow and emotional pain. Inspired by the works of Martin Prechtel and Stephen Jenkinson, Daniel and Mary will delve deeply into this essential topic.
Grief and deep sorrow are seen as essential states for a human being toexperience wholeness. The suppression of grief or its ritualized exaggeration can be quite harmful. Authentically experiencing grief is actually necessary for creating beauty, art, and all renewals. To really grieve means that you have deeply loved.
With Neptune in the last degree of Pisces and Saturn also nearing the end of its time in Pisces, it is timely to explore the astrology of grief, both personal and collective. At the end of Kali Yuga there is much that requires grieving.
“I saw grief drinking a cup of sorrow and called out,
‘It tastes sweet, does it not?’
‘You’ve caught me’, grief answered,
and you’ve ruined my enterprise.
How can I sell sorrow, when you know it is a blessing?’”
