With Mars high in the evening sky and Venus high and bright in the morning sky, both are continuing their journeys to their meetup in the exterior Underworld in January 2026. Both have significant encounters this weekend and Monday.
Mars
Continuing his evening star (Phase Two) journey in the 25-month Cancer Overstory, Mars has an exact conjunction with the Moon at 3:41AM at 21Leo17. Sky watchers will get a great view of this on Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings. Mars continues to gradually dim. Now at magnitude +1.17, it is just slightly brighter than Royal Star Regulus, the heart of the Lion at +1.35. Currently located about one fist to the right of Regulus, Mars has ventured into the head of the Lion, a conjunction with Regulus coming on June 16.
This is the second Moon-Mars conjunction in Phase Two of his current Overstory. It marks the significant challenge of obtaining the sovereignty and self-love appropriate for a Cancerian Mars, applicable to both men and women.
How can he see beyond the clannishness of patriarchal Cancer and embrace a global view instead? And how can he overcome the co-dependency of giving to get? Will he be able to transcend the expectations of family and country?
Venus
Continuing her dazzling descending morning star journey within the Pisces Overstory, Venus is at magnitude -4.5. She is aligned with the Chiron-Eris conjunction at 25Aries15 on Sunday morning, with Chiron at 25Aries43 and Eris at 25Aries30. Venus is approaching the main stars of the Ram constellation. In her sixth brow/pineal chakra portal, the emphasis is on perception, including removing the obstructions for seeing clearly, as well as the tendency of rashly and aggressively rushing into action without objectivity.
The Mayans thought of morning star Venus as a war goddess. All morning star Venus’s have an Aries flavor, but this IS Venus in Aries! How will she encounter the rare Chiron-Eris pairing?
The inquiry I posed last week is amplified: Is the chaos natural or intentional?
Additional Considerations
Venus and Mars, on opposite sides of the sky, are in trine. This is a hopeful sign of their communication with each other, sharing what they are encountering on their way to their underworld meet-up. The compassion and trans-personal sensitivity of Pisces Overstory Venus can support the challenges Mars is facing as he tries to expand his experience of Cancer. Mars can help tamp down the over-aggressiveness of morning star Venus. Nevertheless, let us not be surprised about any potential collective and personal dangers of this weekend, as the Solar Storms are increasing!
