The Taurus New Moon is exact at 3:31pm ET on Sunday, April 27, at 7°46’ Taurus.
Echoes of the last few months resonate into this New Moon chart. The difference now is that (since April 13th) all planets are direct. In addition, Mercury finally leaves its shadow zone April 26 (the area of sky it was retrograding through since March 1), It crossed 9°35’ Aries and moved into new territory. Perhaps it is my own hopeful thinking, yet this could be the time to welcome a little more clarity and make some decisions. Things might not feel totally clear in all aspects of all things, and still it seems to me like it is time to act where action is required. Maybe we have been covering the same territory for many weeks and at last are finding a way through.
The week leading up to this Moon highlights themes that have been rocking us for a while now. Come next New Moon things are beginning to look quite different.
Notable celestial movements in the week leading up to the New Moon include
- Sun square Mars, exact April 20
- Saturn conjunct North Node, exact April 21
- Sun square Pluto, exact April 23
- Venus conjunct Moon (seventh descending chakra), April 24
- Mars opposite Pluto, April 26
Sun, Moon, Mars, Pluto
The New Moon chart itself still shows the dynamic of Sun/Moon square Mars opposite Pluto. This third and final opposition of this cycle for Pluto to Mars is exact on April 26. Previous dates were November 3 2024 and January 3 2025. I have spoken to this alignment as it has played out over the past 6 months, again and again coming back to the vision of the Sacred Masculine standing in the centre of a powerful opportunity for deep healing through purging and releasing old, stagnant, patriarchal ways of being. Daniel Giamario spoke to this again in his recent Wizard Weekly Checking on Mars. These patterns exist in all of us, no matter our sex or gender. What will this final opposition reveal?
Since Mars is now in his ‘Questing’ phase in the Cancer overstory, this could not be a better time to engage in some really deep re-learning of what it means to show up as the authentic, nurturing, safe space that the Masculine knows deep in its memory. Can we welcome Pluto in all of this, as a teacher, one that is here to help us face the shadows, one we can trust not to keep us protected from our own reflection?
The energy of a New Moon is, as you know, a seed point, a time to work with clear intentions. In Taurus we can call upon the element of Earth and our holy embodiment to help facilitate this process of working with our inner Sacred Masculine. We may find it helpful to bring in somatic practices that support us in integrating the big feelings that may come with this kind of shadow work. Feeding all of the senses in ways that feel healthy and pleasurable could assist in cultivating a feeling of safety as we commit to new thought pathways and ways of being.
Venus, Saturn and The North Node
Venus, Saturn and the North Node of the Moon all in Pisces continue to dance together for a short time longer before Venus moves into Aries on April 30, followed by Saturn on May 24/25. Venus, now journeying in her Pisces overstory, meets the seventh descending gate on April 24 (Crown Chakra). The Pisces overstory has not occurred in over 100 years and with the addition of Saturn and the North Node at this point in her journey, anything is possible. The teachings of navigating from an open heart remain at the forefront. Pisces is also commonly associated with the higher chakras, trust, unconditional love and compassion. The curriculum is perfectly aligned. How then can Venus be brought into this curriculum? An important question to ask could be; In what way is the inner Sacred Feminine confused, afraid or in denial when it comes to navigating the path ahead with an open heart? The conjunction of the North Node and Saturn which was exact on April 21, invites us all, all of us, to elevate our hearts, our consciousness, and our minds, so that we can find a new way forward.
In summary this New Moon presents an opportunity to come into sacred space to work with both the Masculine and Feminine principles in all of us. Both inner aspects are in initiatory journeys which open doors of possibility to new versions of the Feminine in Pisces and the Masculine in Cancer. It is important to be real and not shy away from what needs to come to the surface and it is also important to treat yourself with tenderness. Remembering that this open heartedness, loving compassion we vision for the world must begin with offering that to ourselves in our own healing journey.
