The relationship between Venus and Mars has a repetitious pattern. Their underworld conjunction happens about every 6.5 years / 77 months. During the present time there are three basic patterns of how this meet-up unfolds. In our school we call these patterns the Venus-Mars Sagas and have sourced them from naked eye observation, as was done by our pre-technological ancestors.
The Underworld Saga
The current pattern has seen Mars in the evening sky descending into the exterior underworld, on the other side of the Sun. He will be off the world stage for 123 days, until March 16, 2026. From the morning sky, Venus descends into that same exterior underworld on November 25. Venus remains off the world stage for 86 days, rising as an evening star around February 17, 2026. TOTAMS refers to this as the Underworld Saga. This saga always includes the meet-up of Venus and Mars with the Sun. The next time this will happen is January 6, 2026. As mentioned above, this pattern repeats every 77 months, BUT only every 32 years in almost the same signs and same constellations.
Here is some data to explore this remarkable pattern. The most recent times have been 1929-1930, 1961-1962, 1993-1994, and now. I particularly look at the time frames from October until April of those years. I will give one example to possibly inspire your own research:

What Does This Mean?
There is quite a lot to unpack here. Both Venus – symbolic of the archetypal feminine in both women and men – and Mars – symbolic of the archetypal masculine in both men and women – are in their initiatory surrender, their shamanic death and rebirth time. The Venus/Inanna journey, among other aspects, is majorly about developing the capacity to grieve the end of the previous age. And indeed, there is much to grieve, especially the damage done by the patriarchy and the materialism of the now ending Kali Yuga.
For Mars, his surrender is to overcome the egoic attachments to his “accomplishments” and to develop the vulnerability and empathy to really serve the peoples of the world, beyond personal family and country.
Also for both men and women, when both planets are in the underworld, the flavor is like that of Pluto. That is how the ancients saw it. For TOTAMS, this means it is prime time to commit to even deeper sacred marriage work, to develop an ever stronger inner union of Mars and Venus, equalling inner wholeness!
Great Mystery Offers Support!
Based on looking at the previous iterations of this pattern, this will not be an easy time. Most of the plethora of other remarkable and revolutionary astrological cycles of 2025 would not have been known to the ancients. But they would have been and indeed have been well aware of the observable Mars and Venus relationship. So let’s work with this consciously, remembering that TOTAMS’ view is that the Universe and Great Mystery always offer support when we navigate in collaboration with the cycles as they are happening.
