Our lunation week begins with a Last Quarter Moon in adventurous Sagittarius on February 20 and ends with a profound Pisces New Moon on February 27. Here are the highlights (all times in PST).
Thursday, February 20
The waning Moon at 12 Sagittarius 20 is squaring the Sun in Pisces this morning. This is our final turning point in the Aquarius lunation. Time to turn Sagittarius’ truth-seeking superpower within, as we make an honest assessment over the coming week of lessons learned this past month in preparation for the upcoming Pisces New Moon.
Mercury in Pisces is squaring Jupiter in Gemini this afternoon, offering yet another square in the cross of service-to-spirit zodiac signs, reminding us to stay heart-centered amidst the plethora of information coming at us from all sides. Hold on to what fosters compassion and sparks inner magic. Let go of the rest!

The waning Moon on its way towards Antares and Galactic Center, February 20 2025 by Naraya Naserian, Naivasha / Kenya
The waning crescent Moon, moving out of bounds again today until February 25, is activating royal star Antares this morning, visible looking towards the southeast before dawn. This heart star of the Scorpion constellation acts as a powerful gateway to nearby Galactic Center.
Sagittarius Overstory Mercury exits its psychopomp phase today, as it moves 10 degrees away from the Sun and becomes visible in the evening sky. Although still very near to the horizon, it will reach maximum elongation and its best apparition for northern hemisphere viewers in early March.
Saturday, February 22
The waning crescent Moon in Sagittarius activates Galactic Center this morning before dawn, before heading into Capricorn and the stars of the Archer constellation tomorrow morning. A perfect time to sit in meditation and tune in for messages from the heart of the galaxy.
Sunday, February 23
Cancer Overstory Mars, still in the first exploratory phase of his 25-months synodic cycle, is stationing direct this evening at 17 Cancer 00. As Mars continues the youthful phase of his journey to establish a deeper embodiment of an authentically nurturing archetypal masculine, he will certainly encounter many challenges and setbacks. With the Moon at its extreme out of bounds position today, we are encouraged to face the emotional roadblocks in our path with a perhaps unexpected audacity.
Look for Mars high in the sky to the east after the Sun sets, visible until after midnight near the bright stars Castor and Pollux at the feet of The Twins constellation, just within the Sacred Hoop of stars that circle Galactic Edge. Tune in for inspiration as we navigate these emotionally volatile times.
Monday, February 24
Asteroid Pallas is conjunct Pluto this morning in early degrees of Aquarius. According to Demetra George in the book Asteroid Goddesses, this planetary combo of the mental-creative principle and deep transformation emphasizes the power of ideas to transform reality. An especially potent combination in the evolutionary sign of Aquarius! Although not visible with the naked eye, this timing invites us to turn inward to receive our own potentially transfiguring transmissions.
Tuesday, February 25
Mercury meets up with Saturn, exact early this morning at 20 Pisces 15, and potentially visible in the evening sky, although both will be close to the western horizon and difficult to see. As the planet of communication meets with boundaries and limitations in the watery, open-hearted sign of Pisces, we are nudged to seek inspiration from our inner imaginative world to help us negotiate the often harsh realities of a chaotic outer world. And to share those inner visions with others in the simplest of ways.
Thursday, February 27
We begin a new lunation month today as the Moon meets the Sun this afternoon at 09 Pisces 41. They are joined by a nothing-less-than stunning line-up of planets that begins with Ceres in the second degree and ends with Neptune at the next-to-last degree of this completing, most mystical sign of the zodiac wheel. Also showing up for this Pisces party are wise-elder Saturn, messenger Mercury, and the North Node, pointing towards humanities’ destiny. If we didn’t already know that we are in a time of profound unravelling, this cosmic configuration could leave no doubt.
Endings, of course, contain by necessity the seeds of new beginnings. With Venus, Chiron, and Eris in Aries at this New Moon, and Neptune and Saturn set to venture into this fiery first sign very soon, we can’t help but feel this push-pull as a constant backdrop to all we do at this time of epic change.
And, for this astrological mini-moment, Pisces and the surrender of letting go of the old definitely lead the field. With a trine in water also active on this New Moon chart, involving Mars in Pisces, sacred-focus Vesta in deep-feeling Scorpio, and the Sun, Moon, Saturn and Mercury in numinous Pisces, emotions are key. Some say this is the planet of emotions, and that all of us here have signed up for the accelerated learning only available through their uniquely transformative power.
This is a time to fearlessly embrace all of our feelings, without judgment, as we strive to show up with open hearts in a time of dissolution and great destruction. And to remember, as well, to be very, very compassionate towards ourselves as well as others. To spend more time going within, anchored in our soul selves, and less time preoccupied by the impotent madness of a world convulsed by its final death agonies.
Embodying our most sacred selves in each moment, the evolutionary warriors of love we came to be – is our most vital task at this time of devastating upheaval, inexplicably mixed with irrational hope, at the great turning of the Cosmic Wheel.
