As a followup to last week’s Wizard Weekly about Venus’ and Mercury’s simultaneous retrograde between October 14 and November 13, the focus is certainly on tropical Scorpio!

Mercury’s interior conjunction with the Sun is on November 4 at 12Scorpio10RX. Mercury begins it’s Scorpio Overstory upon stationing direct on November 12 at 5Scorpio02.
Venus had her interior conjunction with the Sun on October 23 at 0Scorpio45Rx. Some think that that was her star point. If this thinking is applied, it’s her last one there in over a century. TOTAMS uses Venus’ heliacal rise on October 30 at 27Libra02RX as the Star Point, only her second in Libra in over a century.
October 29-30, under an extreme out-of-bounds Cancer Moon, Venus and Mercury are in the interior underworld together, with Mercury descending and Venus ascending. Venus is with Spica in the Priestess constellation, and Mercury is navigating the balance beam of the Scales. At this time in the precessional cycle, the South Scale, Zubenelgenubi, is about 15-16Scorpio, and the North Scale, Zubeneshamali, about 20Scorpio. Mercury will be passing backwards through the Scales from October 18 – November 2. The balance beam was entered around October 12. The final forward passage will take place November 25-29. The Mystery School of Scorpio is hanging on the balance.
Not to be left out of the additional context of this current time period is the October 25 Full Moon, with the Moon at 2Taurus46 and the Sun at 2Scorpio46, squared by Pluto at 3Aquarius05. This will be followed by the November 8 New Moon at 16Scorpio53, the aforementioned zone of the balance beam of the Scales that Mercury has been navigating. Much will be revealed by this New Moon, both inner and outer!
The Most Mysterious of Times
As I see it, the retrogrades of Venus and Mercury are the most mysterious of times. In each planet’s case, one archetype is dying, being metamorphized, then both Venus and Mercury are being reborn into a different archetype – certainly their most alchemical passages. For us humans, there can be great resistance to the surrender required for deathing and birthing. The same energetics applied to a planet symbolizes a greater collective force. As James Hillman once said:
“We don’t have archetypes, they have us.”
Now at the beginning of a post Kali Yuga time, at the conclusion of a Fourth Turning, and in the final years of a Great Turning, it has never been more important to dive deeper into just what the Scorpio Mystery School actually is – its eternal Essence, its shadows, the various expressions of Scorpio throughout human history, and most importantly, the courage to re-vision it. I believe that in the great dance of collective evolution, the Gods and Goddesses directing the archetypal energies need and desire our input!
What It Looks Like In The Outer World
Let’s apply all this to the outer world just now. The Israeli and US elections, the possibility of a greater war unfolding, food and fuel shortages and extreme price hikes, growing civil unrest. I continue suggesting to not take active part in any of it, but that does not mean to do nothing. On the forefront are deep inner work on our own shadow, a deep inquiry into our own relationship with death and rebirth, and to actively participate with Great Mystery in the dance of collective evolution. Above all, in the face of the challenges, don’t go into fear or collapse.

Storming Heaven
Following a marvelous recommendation from member of our school, Aebhanne O’Callaghan, I have been reading an incredible book called “LSD and the Mind of the Universe: Diamonds From Heaven” by Christopher Bache. I will be writing more about this remarkable book in the coming weeks, as for me, it unites in such a beautiful way the entirety of my life’s quest. For the first time I understand the foibles and poignancy of my Mars in Scorpio attempts to “storm heaven.” For me that includes not just experimentation with LSD and psychedelics, but also
- my forays with Transcendental Meditation, leading to a premature Kundalini activation,
- a Chiron Return breakdown,
- and a Diamond Heart cul-de-sac.
Christopher Bache is a true philosopher and a modern Spiritual Scientist. I am now more compassionate of the great suffering that all of my experiences involved, and the great love behind it. It is rather synchronistic that this book arrived in my life just as Pluto is squaring my Mercury in Scorpio conjunct my South Node, and as Pluto in Aquarius is strongly involved with Mercury and Venus as well.
