Ramblings, Reflections and Ruminations of Daniel Giamario | Feb 15, 2026 |
The first eclipse season of the year has arrived. This important portal has a number of noteworthy features, some of which I have been presaging over these past few months, including Venus’ and Mars’ rising from the underworld within this eclipse season. The Mercury retrograde will also take place. Additionally, the most remarkable horoscope of February 17 is of great interest.
What Is An Eclipse Season?
When researching, I have been surprised at the general ambiguity about this. For years I had assumed that eclipse season would start on the day of the first eclipse and end on the day of the last eclipse. Usually, as in the current one, each eclipse season has two eclipses. In fact, there are a variety of opinions out there. All do agree that the center of an eclipse season is when the Sun aligns with the nodal degree. For this eclipse that is February 27 at 8Pisces58. But when does it begin and end? Various sources suggest a time frame of 31-37 days.
In the case of a Solar Eclipse, the Sun must be within 18.31 degrees of a Node for it to at least be a partial eclipse.
For a Lunar Eclipse, the Moon needs to be within 12.15 degrees of a Node to produce at least a partial eclipse.
With that in mind, we can estimate that this first eclipse season of this year is from February 12 – March 15.
The Annular Solar Eclipse
This eclipse season begins with an Annular (meaning ring) Solar Eclipse on Tuesday, February 17, 4:01am PST at 28Aquarius50. This is a North Node eclipse. I like to view solar eclipses as Super New Moons, using the term that has more recently been popularized for perigee moons. North Node eclipses carry more future oriented implications, with lesser shadow features. There is a greater possibility for seeding the future.
Total annularity will only be visible in Antarctica. Though the partial eclipse will cover a larger area, also covering the tips of Southern Africa and South America. I consider an Annular Solar Eclipse equally important as the more renowned Total Solar eclipses, they are every bit as central. The difference is that the Moon is too far from Earth (apogee) and hence does not fully cover the Sun, leaving a ring of fire.

Solar Eclipse(Annular)South in Africa, South in South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Antarctica
Of interest is that this Solar Eclipse is almost exactly conjunct the United States natal Moon of 27Aquarius12 and very close to Donald Trump’s Descendant of 29Aquarius55.
The Total Lunar Eclipse
The second eclipse is a fairly long Total Lunar Eclipse on March 3, 3:38AM PST / 6:38AM EST at 12Virgo54, particularly well situated for the Americas. Rated with Index 1.151, the totality lasts nearly an hour. This is a South Node eclipse, giving much greater emphasis on “the ghosts of the past.” The side of the Earth in darkness is the most important region, as that is where the “shadows of night” are most visible. This eclipse squares the United States ASC/DSC axis of 13Sagittarius10 / 13Gemini10.

Venus and Mars
A unique feature of this eclipse season is that within the 33-day time frame, both Venus and Mars will rise from the underworld, Using a 10degree protocol, Venus rises in the evening sky on February 17, the day of the Solar Eclipse! Venus rises aligned with the North Node at 8Pisces56, in the same sign as her heliacal rise in Pisces last year. Almost always, the heliacal rise and evening star rise, are in the same sign, demonstrating the magical symmetry of Venus’s 584-day synodic cycle, clearly articulating the Pisces Overstory.
Meanwhile, Mars will rise in the morning sky just before the Pisces New Moon, on March 15 at 11Pisces04. Mars will also exactly align with the North Node on March 13 at 8Pisces55. This most unusual symmetry of the currently unfolding Venus-Mars Underworld Saga is grabbing my attention. When one remembers that this is the most exact Underworld Saga in this season in nearly 400 years, and the last such planetary alignment within The Great Turning, its placement within this eclipse season feels especially significant. Mars rises in the morning sky, and Venus in the evening sky, the reverse of where they entered the underworld back in November 2025. From Earth’s perspective, they will not see each other until 2027.

Mercury
If all that was not enough, Mercury, within its Scorpio synodic overstory, will station retrograde at 22Pisces33 on February 25 and conjoin the Sun at 16Pisces52 on March 7 during this eclipse window. The stationary direct happens March 20, at the remarkable degree of 8Pisces29, commencing Mercury’s Pisces Overstory.
One would hope we engage in deep inner work to synthesize our capacity for authentic grief and compassion, while maintaining some degree of neutrality in this increasingly bifurcated social sphere. Try to not fall into partisanship allegiances.
Many mysterious processes are unfolding.

Saturn and Neptune
Neptune has already made his final thrust into Aries on January 26, not to return to Pisces for 149 years. But also within this eclipse season is the final thrust of Saturn into Aries on February 13! On February 19, TOTAMS is offering a Highlight Seminar on the topic of the one and only Saturn-Neptune Conjunction. The Remarkable February 17 Horoscope
Take a look at the chart of the New Moon and Solar Eclipse. It has so many rare and unique features that I have discussed above.

Notice
- the rising of Venus with the North Node
- Mars, still in the Underworld with Vesta,
both emphasizing the sacredness of this opportunity for global humanity.
Also notice
- the alignment of Saturn and Neptune
- that Cancer is rising with Jupiter
- and that Mercury is approaching the Solar conjunction, in trine with Jupiter.
I highly suggest that we Shamanic Astrologers place a strong intention to ceremonialize this North Node eclipse and New Moon, to use our spiritual will and our imagination to create a new world in harmony with Spirit, Soul and Heart, to mitigate the intentional chaos being imposed on global humanity.
