As most of you know, Jupiter enters Cancer on Monday, June 9, at 2:02PM PDT. We recently presented a Highlight Seminar on this important ingress. For a limited time, the recording is still available at half price! Over the last few years, a major project of TOTAMS has been to perceive the great need to evolve the signs (Mystery Schools of Life) beyond their post-Hellenistic and patriarchal meanings. This article presents a few further considerations in the ongoing inquiry.
We define the function of Cancer as: “To Provide Personal, Responsible and Hierarchical Nourishment to a Seed until that Seed Achieves its Maturity.” That is its essence. It is in the Culture-Bearer/Householder life category. Throughout the long journey of global humanity, there have been many different expressions (content) of this essence. As global humanity is now at a Great Turning of The Ages, we ask: How can Cancer evolve beyond its patriarchal expressions? How can it move beyond its shadow of clannishness, nationalism, provincialism and patriotism?
Jupiter’s function is to amplify and expand whatever it aligns with. Will this expansion involve the old Cancer, or will it help birth and nurture a new Cancer?
We have suggested that the evolution of a more evolved Cancer must embrace the whole planet. It’s no longer sufficient to love only your children, or your family or your country’s children, but instead all children. Think of the genocided children of Gaza and other places … But how to accomplish this? Is it via the offered inverted globalism of the world government bodies (WEF, WHO, UN, NAT, EU etc.) or can another option emerge?
The key can be found in our suggested Cancer definition. Take the word “hierarchical”, for example. There are so many false hierarchies these days, that the word exudes a negative connotation. But this does not negate authentic hierarchies, for example parent-child, grandparent-grandchild, teacher-student, therapist-client a.s.f. This is the MC-IC vertical axis on a chart. But this kind of hierarchical respect must be earned. How can parents, therapists, or so-called leaders expect to be respected without a moral, ethical and spiritual education? The most money or largest armies surely are not worthy of respect. Why exactly are they the ones promising a global pseudo-Cancerian solution through AI-surveillance “security” and a digital guaranteed minimum income? Though this situation is exactly what might be expected at the end of Kali Yuga, the time of deepest descent into materialism.
Cancer has always had a connection to our ideas about “family.” How can our views of family encompass all of global humanity? Rudolf Steiner has had much to say on this topic. In the future, “blood” family and bloodlines are much less significant than finding our soul family, those who most resonate with our soul’s purpose. As Christ in the New Testament once remarked: “Your Family is not your Family” and “Your Parents are not your Parents.”
Additionally, Steiner had a view of the so-called “folk-soul.” As an arch-opponent of Statism and artificial boundaries of countries created by war and politics, he proposed that there are regions of the world with shared religious, spiritual and cultural values that transcend artificial boundaries, and that need to be respected and honoured (for instance Slavic, Finnish, Aboriginal, German, and so many others, including different regions of the United States).
These views clearly elucidate that a fake top-down globalism imposed on the world with the SAME money, religion and values, far from being an evolution, is the deepest descent into tyranny and in fact, devolution. My own vision is more decentralized, not the unearned hierarchical globalism run by a small group of unelected technocrats and oligarchs. This seems to me to be a more enlightened vision of Unity in Diversity.
