On Tuesday, September 17, the Full Moon will be at 25 Pisces 41, opposite the Sun in Virgo, exact at 7:34 pm PDT. This partial lunar eclipse opens a powerful eclipse window. Time to tune in deeply to access the intense energies of accelerated change on offer from the cosmos.
Let The Emotions Flow
This is an intensely emotional and potentially visionary Full Moon, with resonant planet Neptune very close to the Moon, traversing the last few degrees of Pisces in its retrograde motion. Old, stuck emotions – individual and collective – are swimming up from the depths to be felt and released. Oftentimes, with no story necessary. This is not a thinking process, but a feeling one.
The best strategy is to let the emotions flow, allowing our body’s wisdom to alchemize them as it sees fit in the moment. With the Sun in earthy Virgo, invoking the resonant polarity at this watery Full Moon, we are reminded of the importance of creating simple, meaningful ceremony to support us in this process, bringing us into deeper resonance with Earth and her elemental energies. The magical power of ceremony to accelerate the forces of transformation is further emphasized by communicator Mercury with sacred focus Vesta hovering nearby, in mid-degrees of Virgo.
The Magic of Symbols
In his comprehensive book on degree symbol systems, The Circular Temple, John Sandbach summarizes the Pisces 29 degree that Neptune is diving into so deeply in this moment, and occupying for the entire eclipse window:

In our culture of rampant consumerism, we are brainwashed with the unconscious assumption that more is always good, compelled to continually seek out new “things” to fill the unacknowledged spiritual hole at our center, to spend our days in a restless pursuit of whatever is not here, in the moment. In this cult that bears allegiance only to fleeting trends and to progress at any cost, the desire to repeat, to stick with what calls us and follow it deeper, to shun innovation in favor of intimate familiarity, can be powerfully taboo.
We may even find ourselves feeling vaguely guilty that we hold on to “that tired old thing” – be it a ragged toy from childhood, a treasured quote that has followed us for decades, a fondness for a particular scent, an irrational allegiance to a particular image of divinity, or a story that won’t let us go – as we fight off internal accusations of being a boring person, or lacking in motivation or imagination, because we can’t seem to move on to something new.
This Full Moon challenges us to sit in heart-based contemplation of a beloved symbol that has woven its magic into the fabric of our lives. It invites us to pursue it with dreamy Neptunian passion allied with sacred Virgoan thoroughness. To enter into a communion so deep that you finally stumble upon never-before-suspected depths in this utterly familiar artifact. So that you are able at last, like William Blake,
“To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.”
There truly is a whole new frequency of cosmic love bathing the Earth at this pivotal juncture in her transformation process. Our challenge is to be present enough, in the moment, to open our hearts and let it in. Not an easy task, as the horrors of the last several thousand years of lies and distortions, designed to block all knowledge of our essential nature as divine beings, swim closer and closer to the forefront of our consciousness. Feeling deeply into what we hold most dear can help us meet this essential challenge.
Connection or Deception
We are being forcefully reminded that Neptune, in addition to its gifts of dreamy inspiration and ecstatic connection with All That Is, can also bring illusion, deception and dissolution. These are themes that will continue to unfold in Middle World reality at an alarming rate over the next weeks and months, as life as we know it continues to unravel.
The ultimate cosmic intent is clear. To dissolve the false emotional blueprint imposed upon us, swept away in a tidal flood of cleansing grief, so that, finally, we can anchor in a new consciousness. It is past time for a new vision, one fed by the pure spring of a truly organic, global human consciousness. A vision of a future where we are able to feel our hearts, as individuals and as a collective, once again beating in resonance with the essential rhythms of Earth and Sky.
The Lunar Eclipse Full Moon is followed just a few days later by the Equinox, as the Sun moves into the relational air sign of Libra. Neptune continues to make its presence known, still standing opposite to the Sun from the same 29 degree frequency of Pisces. Because it falls so near to the eclipse this year, the Equinox Sun is just six degrees away from the south node in Libra. A similar alignment of the Equinox with either the north or south node can only happen every 8-9 years, another marker of the special power of this eclipse window, as we approach the heart of the shift out of these most extreme years and months of the Kali Yuga.
As we stand at this balance point between light and dark, aligned with the past and future trajectory of humanity, and send prayers for the Earth and all her creatures, may we remember the unfathomable power of the Love that animates all existence, as we seek to stand as beacons of peace and hope for wayfarers in turbulent waters.
