This week’s astro update begins with an Aquarius Second Quarter Moon very late on Friday, October 8, and ends with an effulgent Taurus Full Moon on Friday, November 15, in mid afternoon. Here are the highlights (all times in PST, except as otherwise noted).
Friday, November 8
The Second Quarter Moon is exact this evening at 9:55 pm, at 17 Aquarius 20, squaring the Sun in Scorpio. The Moon has been widely out of bounds since November 2, returning in bounds just today. And the Mars in Cancer opposition to Pluto in the inexorable last degree of Capricorn continues to be in play.
This expansive Aquarius Moon offers us the possibility of unique inspirations arriving to fuel the intentions we set at the deep feeling Scorpio New Moon last week. The highest potential of this combo marries the intense presence of Scorpio with the innovative power for change of airy Aquarius.
However, don’t be surprised if sparks begin to fly, as these highly individual signs square off. If Aquarius chooses to stay in the clouds, fleeing from Scorpio intensity – or should Scorpio willfully refuse to incorporate the offered breath of fresh air – the intended creative synthesis will be lost. Our job is to stay aware and consciously call in the gifts of both when the tension manifests as obstacles in our everyday lives.
Saturday, November 9
Leo overstory Venus, currently in late degrees of Sagittarius in the evening sky, has just begun her month-long activation of the fourth chakra heart-centered gate of ascension. Today she is making an exact square to Neptune in Pisces, accentuating the need to open our hearts to the unconditional love of All That Is in our journey towards true Leo sovereignty.
Although Neptune is not visible to us with the unaided eye, Venus certainly is. Remember to look for her as she dominates the evening sky after sunset, tuning in for messages as she traverses the very heart of Galactic Center.
Messenger Mercury may be visible in the west as well with a low horizon, as it nears its maximum elongation in the evening sky, set to occur after Friday’s Full Moon.
Sunday, November 10
The waxing gibbous Moon makes its monthly conjunction of Saturn today, exact at 5:39 pm at 12 Pisces 42. Viewers in southern Florida, the Caribbean Islands, Central America and north-western South America may be able to view an actual occultation, as the Moon passes directly in front of Saturn.
Saturn is currently hanging out in the stars of the Water Bearer constellation. If you go out to tune in to the Moon with Saturn this evening, look for them towards the south after sunset (setting about midnight) with bright star Fomalhaut, the royal star in the mouth of the Fish, just below.
Monday, November 11
Venus enters Capricorn today, still in the zone of Galactic Center, as the waxing Moon in Pisces makes its monthly pass by visionary Neptune. Once again, the timings are emphasizing the importance of grounding our spiritual insights into new habits and practical actions.
A good day to ask, “What is my actual operating manual as expressed through the everyday actions of my life (vs what I tell myself it is)? How might it need updating to support a more embodied experience of myself as a spiritual being acting with awareness of all three worlds in everyday life?”
Tuesday, November 12
Leo overstory Mercury, now visible in the evening sky in his Hermes phase, squares Saturn in numinous Pisces today from truth-seeking Sagittarius. Yet another timing that asks us to open ourselves to compassionate, heart-centered knowing in our intuitive quest for truth and meaning. “What does my heart know?” may well be the most important inner query for this time of deep change on beloved Earth.
Wednesday, November 13
The Moon in Aries makes its monthly meet-up with Chiron today, at 19 Aries 55. Although this conjunction happens every month, this is the first time it is occurring at the same degree as the powerful, heart-opening Solar Eclipse of April 8, 2024, that was exactly aligned, by degree and minute, with teacher Chiron.
Chiron is now retrograde, returning over the ground of this same degree (activated both this month and next by the Moon conjunction). What themes around the healing of the Aries fracture point might we be revisiting, both individually and collectively? How has our capacity for self-compassion shifted since that time and what work still needs to be done?
What will it take to heal the deeply wounded archetype of the Sacred Warrior, distorted almost beyond recognition by these profane times, whose deepest soul longing is to be in service to a cosmically-aligned cause?
John Sandbach’s summary for this Aries 20 degree frequency, from his book The Circular Temple, is “Relentless proceeding into new possibilities.” He speaks of standing at the crossroads in a time of renewal, as we acknowledge the past and remain open to the future. Healing will come. Our job is to continue to make inner space for something new to enter.
Friday, November 15
The Moon at 24 Taurus 01 opposes the Sun in Scorpio, exact today at 1:28 pm. This is a richly aligned Taurus Full Moon, shining just above the Pleiades star cluster, with fiery Aldebaran, the eye of the Bull constellation, and Jupiter in Gemini, shining just below along the ecliptic.
The Full Moon rises as the Sun sets and will travel until dawn with these stars that beckon us to contemplate the generative mysteries of the Galactic Edge, currently being transmitted to us through the agency of expansive Jupiter. Be sure to tune in for much needed wisdom and inspiration.
Although not visible to the naked eye, Uranus is also in the mix, just a degree away at the exact Full Moon. Think earthquakes – maybe not literal, but certainly metaphorical – as the planet of revolutionary change continues to pinball through earthy Taurus, activated in the here and now by this super moon.
As we continue to navigate this intense era of chaotic change, the signs all point to the obvious – there is no way out but through. Transformation is here and the only viable strategy is to do what it takes to open our hearts wide, wider than we could ever have imagined possible, as we endeavor to keep our heads above the roiling waters and simply surrender to the flow.
