This week’s astro update begins with the Taurus Full Moon on Friday, November 15, and ends with the last quarter Moon on Friday evening, November 22. Here are the highlights (all times in PST, except as otherwise noted).
Friday, November 15
The Moon at 24 Taurus 01 opposes the Sun in Scorpio, exact today at 1:28 pm, shining just above the Pleiades star cluster, with fiery Aldebaran, the eye of the Bull constellation, and Jupiter in Gemini, shining just below along the ecliptic.
Saturn stations direct early this morning at 12 Pisces 42, in the stars of the Water Bearer constellation. This is an important punctuation point in Saturn’s two and a half year journey through numinous Pisces. It is now full speed ahead as we strive to create new forms to support a truly embodied spirituality.
Saturday, November 16
The Moon goes out of bounds again today until Thursday, and the Sun, now in Scorpio, makes its yearly opposition to Uranus, exact in the evening. This is definitely a combo designed to shake us loose from business as usual.
Jupiter in Gemini is moving past the bright Moon over the next two nights, with royal star Aldebaran in the Bull constellation nearby and the Pleiades shining just above. The Moon-Jupiter conjunction will be exact early Sunday morning.
Mercury in Sagittarius reaches its maximum distance from the Sun today, so this is an ideal evening to look for this elusive messenger planet in the western sky after sunset, low to the horizon.
Mercury and Jupiter will be exactly opposite each other in a couple of days, just after midnight on November 18, emphasizing and enhancing this fire/air axis in the cross of service to spirit. An excellent timing for seeking multi-faceted inspiration as we explore new horizons, both inner and outer.
Sunday, November 17
The Leonid meteor shower will be most prolific late tonight until dawn tomorrow, although the bright Moon will affect visibility.
Venus in Capricorn, near to Galactic Center, continues to shine brilliantly in the evening sky all week, as she traverses the heart chakra gate in her ascent journey. Be sure to tune in for wisdom from the center of our galaxy, as we continue to navigate the ongoing heart-opening challenges of the Turning of The Ages.
Monday, November 18
The Moon reaches its maximum out of bounds position for this period today, and the Scorpio Sun makes a watery trine with Neptune in Pisces this evening. A supportive timing for untethered contemplation, as we follow the intertwining pathways of both grief and joy into heretofore hidden chambers of the heart.
The waning gibbous Moon will be near the stars Castor and Pollux over the next several nights at the feet of the Twins constellation, approaching Mars. This is an activation of this potent part of the sky, considered by many cultures as the origin of souls coming into incarnation, and an opportunity for us to tune in to its mysteries. They will rise a few hours after sunset, and be visible through dawn.
Tuesday, November 19
Pluto makes its final ingress into Aquarius today, leaving Capricorn behind at last. As we struggle to assimilate the revelations of The Great Composter’s deep dive through the sign of rules and structure, bringing to light the shadow aspects of our dysfunctional systems, we are walking into a very different world. One that will bring its own gifts – and an equally disquieting shadow aspect.
Will we fall into the trap of Aquarian disembodied idealism, destroying what it means to be human before we even fully understand it? Or will we choose to fulfill the true promise of this airy sign of innovation and collaboration, while making sure we remain rooted in our authentic individual sovereignty and the joyous embodied reality of what it means to be incarnate in this earthly paradise? The sobering choice is ours, and it is upon us.
Wednesday, November 20
The Moon-Mars conjunction is exact this afternoon at 04 Leo 33. Mars is in the final, gestational phase of his 25-months synodic cycle exploration of the authentic masculine expression of archetypal Gemini. He has now entered the sign of the next overstory, which will begin in January 2025 when retrograde Mars in Leo reaches opposition to the Sun. Look for Mars towards the east, as he rises several hours after sunset, traversing the night sky through dawn.
Thursday, November 21
As the Moon returns back in bounds, the Sun enters vision-questing Sagittarius today at 11:56 am. We are leaving the Scorpio depths and looking towards the mountain top, seeking a renewed vision, informed by the felt experience of our deepest desire nature.
Friday, November 22
The Moon at 01 Virgo 15 squares the Sun in Sagittarius today at 5:28 pm. The Moon will rise around midnight and set around noon. It will be hanging out near the royal star Regulus, the heart of the Lion constellation. Look for them a few hours before dawn these next two mornings.
We are at the last turning point of this lunation month that began with the Scorpio New Moon on November 1. What has been accomplished from the intentions set during the potent dark of that deep feeling Moon? What worked? What didn’t? Time to bless it all and begin the process of letting go over the next week, allowing for the composting that will fuel next month’s intentions.
