The Gemini Full Moon on Sunday December 15, at 23Gemini53 (1:02am PST) is extraordinary for two lesser-known reasons.
As I have extensively emphasized the nature of extreme Out-Of-Bounds Moons, it can be pointed out that, once again, this Full Moon has an extreme OOB declination of 28North15, nearly five degrees off the ecliptic. December, January and February are the core peak of the 2024-2025 Lunar Standstill season.
But what I have just discovered is that this Full Moon will have the closest Northern Moonrise and Moonset until the next Lunar Standstill season in December 2043!
Directly Experience Moon Magic
This Gemini Full Moon generates a remarkable opportunity to directly experience Moon Magic. After all, TOTAMS is very much an experiential Mystery School. What this means is that wherever you are on the Earth, Moonrise and Moonset will the farthest possible North of East at Moonrise and North of West at Moonset.
You will be able to directly experience, on the horizons, just how significant this OOB phenomenon is. You will then understand better why the ancients, for thousands of years, built megalithic structures to mark this special occasion and why our schools hosts events at Callanish in Scotland, where “The Moon Walks on The Land.” To further honor and ceremonialize this, not only will there be another event at Callanish in June 2025, but in September 2025 TOTAMS is also having a week-long Cosmology Intensive live teaching at Faywood Hot Springs in New Mexico, where we will add the Lunar Standstill stones to our stone circle there.
If you would like to further investigate the Lunar Standstill, here is a very useful piece of content that will explain in greater depth. Additionally, you can purchase the highly relevant Lunar Standstill Seminars here!
Galactic Edge – Galactic Center Axis
The other interesting factor is that this Full Moon occurs just a few degrees from the Galactic Edge situated at 27Gemini12, with the Sun close to Galactic Center which is at 27Sagittarius12.
The Sun is at the Golden Gate and the Moon is at the Silver Gate of the Pathway of the Soul. These alignments often happen near the Solstices. For instance, on December 27, 2023, the Sun was at 4Capricorn58 and the Moon at 4Cancer58. One of the closest alignments happened on June 22, 2024, with the Sun at 1Cancer07 and the Moon at 1Capricorn07. This was the only one where the Moon actually covered Galactic Center. Next year on June 11, the Sun will be at 20Gemini29 and the Moon at 20Sagittarius29.
This Full Moon of Sunday, December 15, 2024, is therefore the closest Full Moon of all to being aligned with the Galactic Center – Galactic Edge axis, in this last of four Lunar Standstill seasons with the 1962-2034 timeframe of the Great Turning of The Ages.
