For the last couple of years I have put a great deal of attention on the planetary transits to the United States horoscope. I have preferred and worked with Dane Rudhyar’s rectification of the July 4 1776 chart. In America’s celebration of its 250th birthday, it is, of course, July 4 1776 that is being used.
Previously, I have written about the 2nd Neptune Opposition, the Pluto Return, the 5th Chiron Return, and, more recently, the 20th Jupiter Return. All of these major transits are complete or near complete.
Never Seen Something Like This!
For this coming week though, we now find quite a setup! When looking at the transits of June 27 – July 7, I am astonished! Quite frankly, in 57 years of astrology practice, I have never seen so much directed at any nativity.
The key players are Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter and the Lunar Nodes. There is the 2nd ever Neptune transit to the IC, the 9th Saturn opposition, the 79th synodic Mercury Return, and a major synodic Mars Return! Quite possibly, even Uranus is already part of the show. Following is a list of planetary happenings during the days surrounding America’s 250th birthday. Another Out-of-Bounds Full Moon adds to the action leading up to the birthday bash.
* Saturday, June 27, around 9am PDT: Moon conjunct Antares, 10Sagittarius, OoB 26S59. Moon 0.47degrees SE of Antares, occulting Antares in parts of the Southern Hemisphere.
* Saturday, June 27, 9:50pm PDT: Mars sextile Jupiter, 29Taurus33/29Cancer33. Moon OoB 27S39.
* Sunday, June 28, 12:29pm PDT: Mars enters Gemini. Moon OoB 27S58 over the Pleiades. Mars, Uranus and the Pleiades are within a circle the diameter of 5.34degrees, about 37degrees from the Sun in the morning sky.
* Monday, June 29, 10:36am PDT: Mercury retrograde 26Cancer15Rx. Moon OoB 27S33

United States Transits To Natal Placements
* North Node at 06Leo35: transiting Jupiter conjunct North Node on July 29 2026, initiation window through April 13 2027.
* Mercury at 24Cancer11Rx: on Solar Return, Mercury Rx at 25Cancer05; 79th Mercury Synodic Return, same Pisces Overstory, same phase angle – the most exact.

* Venus at 03Cancer06: Though there’s no major transit, what is of great interest is that the Venus Synodic Overstory of the US is Libra, as when Venus rose heliacally on October 31 1775 at 27Libra01. There was an 8th gate – Death by Intent – on June 15, 1776 at about 10Gemini. On July 4 1776, Venus was just beginning her descent into the exterior underworld. I was stunned to discover that the new Venus Overstory that begins October 30 this year commences with Venus rising heliacally at 27Libra!

* Eris Rx at 08Capricorn08: Appropriately, here is a real wildcard. The Full Moon today, Monday, is at 8Capricorn15! Eris is also in general opposition to US Venus and Jupiter for a considerable time.
* Pluto Rx at 27Capricorn32: First Pluto Return has ended unless one uses wide orbs (roughly 2022-2024).
* ASC at 13Sagittarius10
* Saturn at 14Libra48: Saturn opposition number nine.

What Can This All Mean?
The United States is about to celebrate its 250th birthday. What an incredible setup of cycles bringing this young nation to this point.
The Neptune opposition,
the Pluto Return,
quickly followed by the Chiron return and Jupiter Return!

Ninth Saturn Opposition
June 22 2026 to March 15 2027
This aspect intends maturation and graduation. Saturn’s way is to objectively demonstrate what works and what doesn’t work. The choice is to either change or remain committed to an old path, to crystallize at the same place.
Second Neptune Conjunct IC / Opposite MC
May 1 2025 to January 23 2027
Neptune’s contribution often is to produce an identity crisis, a very confusing time. From a celestial level, it’s designed to bring in a new vision, but the fog generally does not clear until near the end of the transit. Consider the national confusion of the Civil War, and increase it by an octave.
Mars Synodic Return
January 15 2026 to February 19 2027
Mars in Gemini is so remarkably evocative of the US predicament. Despite the Founders’ warning about a 2-party state, the duopoly of America is now a national sickness. Synodic planetary returns have two edges. On one hand, it’s when the intended archetype of the sacred masculine drops in at a deeper and more mature level. However, there is also an amplification of the original natal challenges. There we find the Neptune square. This whole duopoly thing, Red vs Blue, and how over time they constantly morph into the other, is now being revealed as an undemocratic uni-party system. My hope is that this Mars Return expands Gemini enough to see a third paradigm. The Saturn opposition also suggests that it can be possible for the puer aeternus nature of America to grow up.
79th Mercury Return
March 20 to July 23 2026
Surely, a major feature of the US chart is its four Cancer planets. There is much to admire about this – and it carries quite a shadow! I am referring to the clannish and insular perspective of so-called “American exceptionalism”, that wants to impose its cultural proclivities on the rest of the world. Settler-colonialism is part of this, as well as the current push towards an American technate – “manifest destiny” on steroids. It is worth noting that the natal chart has Mercury retrograde, and the founders were not desiring foreign entanglements or world hegemony. Here, my hope is that this really exact Mercury Return will motivate deep introspection, so as to deeply feel the feelings associated with Cancer’s shadow, especially for those who have suffered from it. A revisioned Cancer country could honestly seed a global vision of nurturance and care for all the world’s children, families, and cultures.
Jupiter Conjunct the North Node and North Node Conjunct the Moon
There are profound possibilities here. Jupiter amplifies the original US intent, which in TOTAMS is the Sagittarius job in the Sagittarius tribe. There are tremendous possibilities and spiritual idealisms contained in this storyline: exploration, adventure, philosophy, a Quest for Meaning and Purpose, and a Love of Truth. Those ideals were held by the Founders, as is built into the US chart. But the shadow of fundamentalism and theocracy always lurks below the surface. The North Node aligning with the US natal Moon also highlights the 1776 founders’ original idealism: the revolutionary ideals of Aquarius, being Freedom, Liberty and Fraternity. I hope that this Aquarian Moon does not sell out to digital technocracy, AI-everything, and undemocratic rule by billionaire tech bros (the shadow of Pluto in Aquarius) devoid of empathy (Cancer).
Inalienable Rights Bestowed By Our Creator
I am curious to see what unfolds over this next week. My deepest fear is that the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are about to be replaced by total corporate ownership, a nation run by a company CEO (like a king). The (Peter) Thiel-verse, populated by the likes of Larry Ellison and so many others, are desiring to follow the “Dark Enlightenment” playbook of Curtis Yarvin. This would be the elimination of democracy (not to speak of a constitutional republic) into a total “public-private” partnership (otherwise known as fascism).
I stand with the most revolutionary ingredient of the US Declaration of Independence, unique in the world. And that is the foundation of so-called inalienable (actually un-alienable) rights bestowed by our creator.
On September 2 1945, Vietnam (a Roosevelt ally against fascist imperialism), in their proclamation of Independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, inspired by the US Declaration, borrowed the words in their most meaningful way:
“We hold truths that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, among them are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”.
This foundation establishes the sovereignty of the individual. This individual sovereignty is above the state and any government, and not under its jurisdiction. The state and governments’ duty is to defend this sovereignty and the dignity of all humans. Human beings are not algorithms or commodities.
My prayer is that enough wake up and not comply with this possibility.
