Virgo New Moon No.II: A Time For Completion

by Susan DeRyder | Sept 20, 2025 |

Virgo New Moon #2, a Partial Solar Eclipse, will be exact this Sunday, Sept 21, at 3:45pm ET. This Moon lands at 29°05” Virgo. Back in August we had the first of two Virgo New Moons at 00°22 Virgo. The Moon is bookending Virgo into this coming lunation. For more on the depths of the Virgo Mystery School, I recommend checking out this recent video shared by Daniel and friends – for it is from this perspective that I lean into the intent of this sign.

Unnatural Demands

Virgo teaches us of the deeper rhythm and cycles that many on Earth have come to forget. With artificial lights, chemicals in our soils and foods, and unnatural demands placed upon us to keep up with the pace of the human race, our connection to the cycle of the Moon and seasons of the year has become more of a gimmick hijacked by consumerism than something we choose to honor and humbly devote ourselves to so that we can harmonize with the Earth.

My personal experience of this last lunation was that of the consistent reminder of not only the joy and beauty in these cycles, but of the absolute necessity in their teachings. I have heard of countless injuries to feet, ankles, knees not only to humans but to pets too. Friends and family alike have been forced to stop through issues with vehicles, particularly the parts that make the thing move forward… curious. It seems the more we push to build and charge ahead, the more we are slowed down. A coincidence? I don’t think so.

A Time for Completion

When contemplating this coming New Moon one might look to the clue that it sits at the anuretic degree, the final degree of the sign. This degree, for many, is thought of as a time for completion. We might think to ourselves, “…it is time to get it all done!”. And yet, when we really pay attention to what is going on around us, we may notice ‘Moving Forward’ is not an option right now. What then, are the innate teachings of Virgo and this New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse offering us here? Could it be that in this case the anuretic degree is more of a call to the highest expression of Virgo rather than a desperation to gain control or to power through?

One of the clues could be that this is a South Node Eclipse. The South Node of the Moon is associated with the past, what is old, what needs to be released. It is about letting go. Is this one of many signposts pointing toward the obvious? That our connection to the Earth, her teachings, her mysteries and rhythms has been forgotten and the only thing we must rush to do is *remember*?

Presence, Patience, Emptying and Trust

The addition of Saturn conjunct Neptune opposing this New Moon Eclipse brings me back to the image I offered a couple of articles ago. While Neptune continues to pulse and swing over the final degrees of Pisces, we are being forced not to forget the ultimate importance of presence, patience, emptying and trust in the sway of an ancient oceanic force. Meanwhile Saturn is there, the boat (or maybe it feels like a liferaft at this point) that is holding us in place so that we won’t drown in the intensity of it all (because let’s face it, these are intense times).

Perhaps Saturn and Neptune together like this are the illuminating factor to this New Moon? May we open ourselves up to resting in the holding nature of Saturn, replace any fears around not ‘Moving Forward’ with a deeper inquiry and curiosity into what is being transmitted to us right now.

Astrology As A Practical Tool For Life

The reality is, from an astrological point of view, this intensity isn’t going to go away anytime soon. The Turning of The Ages, the end of The Kali Yuga, and all the endings and beginnings that have been spoken of over the past five years are still playing out. It doesn’t happen overnight. The conjunction between Saturn and Neptune continues on and reaches exactness on February 20 2026. We may want the unknowingness to go away sooner than will be. This is where I always return to my personal perspective on Astrology as a practical tool or guide for life; Astrology is not about predicting, in my opinion it is about allowing and opening up to the teachings and initiatory energies of each of the planets and the signs they are in so that we can attune to the way in which they are contributing to clearing the path to our highest good and to the highest good of all. What can we learn from these planetary placements either personally/natally or on the collective level, if our natal planets are not in the direct line of the transiting planets at this time. I find asking questions is always a good place to start.

We Are Not Alone

Eclipses generally set the tone for at least the next 6 months ahead. In the portal of this powerful weekend leading into the Equinox on Monday, we can really be with this opportunity for receiving guidance and insights from something bigger than us but also that we are intrinsically a part of. Sunday into Monday will likely be a culmination of some sorts, the end and the beginning of a double Virgo lunation, a change of seasons and still the cycles continue on. May it lead us out on to the Earth. May we open ourselves up to listen more deeply to her. And may we know that in all of this, we are not alone and cannot do this alone. As an anthem for the times I would like to share the beautiful music of Grief Tender and Circle Song extraordinaire, Ahlay Blakely who contributes to the growing Grief Tending community. Here’s one of her beautiful songs, from the appropriately titled album ‘Spells from the Unknown’.
