Mars and Jupiter, the two visible morning sky planets, both strongly highlighted by conjunctions with the Moon on Sunday and Tuesday respectively, are what I want to tune into this week. These events presage the auspicious Mars-Jupiter conjunction arriving November 15. Here is the data:
- Moon conjunct Mars, Sunday, September 6, 12:05pm PDT at 17Cancer02
- Moon conjunct Jupiter, Tuesday, September 8, 11:37am PDT at 15Leo18
- Mars conjunct Jupiter, Sunday, November 15, 10:24pm PDT at 25Leo53
Now at magnitude 1.26 among the stars of the Twins constellation, about 57degrees from the Sun, Mars continues to slowly brighten. Jupiter is much brighter, at magnitude -1.81, among the stars of the Crab constellation, about 30degrees from the Sun. By their November conjunction, they will be 87degrees from the Sun in the Lion constellation, almost as far as Regulus.
Final Phases of Cancer Overstory

Mars is now in the final phases of his Cancer Overstory that began on January 15, 2025. Phase Five, known as Cancer Maturity and Elder Knowledge, began August 11, 2026, upon Mars entering Cancer, and concludes November 25, 2026, upon him entering Virgo. Here in Virgo, the next Overstory begins on February 19, 2027.
Much like Venus’ synodic cycle chakra gates, the lunar conjunctions are portals of initiation for Mars. The Moon-Mars conjunction this Sunday is the first of three within this phase. Happening within the Twins constellation, Mars is being asked to expand beyond any remaining conventional or more patriarchal conceptions and beliefs about what Cancer can be.
Within this Phase Five it’s interesting that right near its end is the easily visible Mars-Jupiter alignment, just before Mars joins Regulus at 0Virgo13. Virgo will then be the prevailing and master archetype for the period February 17, 2027 through March 25, 2029, the primary exploratory task of the archetypal sacred Masculine for both men and women. Jupiter’s journey through Jupiter shares the same space from July 26, 2027, through August 24, 2028.
Our hope and vision is that this maturity and elder wisdom phase of the Mars Cancer Overstory bears fruit.
Revisioning the 12 Mystery Schools of Life
TOTAMS’ focus now is to revision the 12 Mystery Schools of Life in our Re-Birthing Astrology Project. Last month focused on Leo, this past Saturday on Virgo, and Libra is to follow on October 3. If you want to join the re-visioning community, you can do so at any time. You will receive all previous classes and resources that began with Cancer at the Cancer Solstice in June, and be invited to attend all upcoming live sessions.
Mars moving through the sign of Cancer and then into Leo, amplifies our project even more. Surely, Mars has been gaining some wisdom and insight as to the necessity to move beyond provincial, racial, national, and patriarchal boundaries, and to create a more global vision for family and community. Now, Mars and Jupiter team up to help us create better ways of providing healthy nourishment for all of the worlds peoples, as well as our beloved Earth Mother who continues desiring to nourish us and all of life. She certainly needs the help of a more mature, heart-centered sacred masculine, with empathy, not just intellect.
