As the New Moon at 21Cancer59 approaches on Tuesday, three other transits capture my attention:
- the exact Mercury conjunction with the Sun on the inner track between Earth and Sun
- the Lunar conjunction with Mars
- and Venus aligned with Regulus
The current planetary positions of Mars and Venus also invite most interesting speculations and insights. We will even weave in some archangel connections. Let’s explore …
Mercury Conjunct Sun
Sunday, July 12, 6:26PM PDT, at 20Cancer42
The Mercury Synodic Overstory of Scorpio began March 20 and is now rapidly concluding. The exact alignment with the Sun, on the inside track between Earth and Sun, is when the greatest and most mysterious magic of metamorphosis is happening. It can be conceived as the conception of the soon to begin Cancer Overstory. On July 23, when Mercury stations direct at 16Cancer19, is when this next synodic overstory is being birthed. Overall, Mercury is in Cancer for an astonishing 70 days!
This next synodic overstory lasts 113 days and may well be the the Mercury master circuit, as in this time in the precessional cycle, Mercury is located in the Twins constellation, not moving into the Crab until August 6.
Moon Conjunct Mars
Saturday, July 11, 6:16am PDT at 9Gemini00
This is the last of six Moon-Mars conjunctions in Phase Four of his Cancer Overstory that began way back on January 15 2025 at 26Cancer12. This phase is called Cancer Rebirth and Growth of Wisdom. The final phase of this synod is called Cancer Maturity and Elder Knowledge. It begins when Mars reaches the sign of the overstory, 00Cancer00, on August 11, and lasts until November 25, with the conception of the next overstory: Virgo.
Of significance is that this Moon-Mars portal is almost exactly aligned with the star Aldebaran, the eye of the Bull, and one of the Royal Stars, one of the watchers of the cardinal directions.
Venus Aligned With Regulus
Thursday, July 9, at 00Virgo
Approaching her greatest evening elongation of 45.52degrees on August 14, Venus is blazing at a magnitude of -04.2. Regulus is another of the Royal Stars, also watching over a cardinal direction.
The Archai-Archangel Connections
I find the near simultaneous alignments of Venus with Regulus and Mars with Aldebaran quite extraordinary! Watch the planets with these stars and be open to receive celestial guidance and support.
In the Steiner teachings, Michael, Christ and the Sun are working together.
There is quite a lot of lore about how the directional Royal Stars are related to the archangels. I generally follow the views of Rudolf Steiner who assigns Michael to Regulus and Uriel to Aldebaran.

The Architecture of The Venus-Mars Underworld Saga
On July 29 we have an upcoming square between Venus at 21Virgo14 and Mars at 21Gemini14.
The United States natal Mars is 21Gemini22 and the US is in an important Mars Return! There is something else extremely interesting. As an experiential school, foundationally based on the naked eye experience of the visible planets and star patterns, a highly relevant observation is how Mars and Venus interact with each other. They are currently in what we call the Underworld Saga. Earlier this year, they joined together behind the Sun, not seen from Earth. They entered the underworld from opposite sides of the sky and then rose on opposite sides of sky—never seen together. At this writing, Venus is about 43degrees from the Sun in the evening sky, and Mars about 41degrees from the Sun in the morning sky. By their square on July 29, the architecture is a perfect 45degrees! This kind of pattern, a feature of the Underworld Saga, happens about every 6.5 years. The saga ends February 17 2027 and the Inanna-Rapunzel Saga commences with the Sun-Mars opposition.
