On Wednesday, June 11, with a truth-seeking Full Moon at 20 Sagittarius 39, highlighting Galactic Center, we reach the apotheosis of the process fertilized two weeks ago at the irrepressible Gemini New Moon. We are invited to wield our innate desire to uncover and foster our own deep inner wisdom, as we forge a perilous path through volatile emotions, both inner and outer, at this time of great transformation.
As we are still in the midst of the 19-year Lunar Standstill period, this out-of-bounds Full Moon in late degrees of Sagittarius will be passing below the ecliptic, directly over Galactic Center, just past red Antares, the heart of the Scorpion constellation. This is a powerful opportunity to amplify our ability to receive clear messages from Source as we tune in to the heart of our Milky Way Galaxy.
The Symbols
The Sabian Symbol for Sagittarius 21, the degree of the exact Full Moon, is “A child and a dog wearing borrowed eyeglasses.” Dane Rudhyar in his commentary invokes the use of imagination and make-believe in anticipating higher stages of development, and points to the practice of personal growth by identification with a spiritual master. In essence, this symbol invokes the power of “acting as if” – there is a magic in employing the Sagittarius gift of inspired focus to propel us in the direction of our dreams, even if a part of us feels unprepared or not quite developed enough for the task at hand.
At the deepest level, this Full Moon degree invites us to follow the promptings of our childlike, imaginative intuition to discover the treasure hidden within. According to John Sandbach, the theme for this degree is, “knowing intuitively how to find value and meaning, either by inviting them in, or going to seek them.” His Omega symbol for this degree is, “Deep in the jungle, travelers discover the ruins of an ancient city.”
In this time of astounding archaeological discoveries that upend outdated and erroneous official narratives in the outer world, we are being led, collectively and personally, to uncover the profound truth that lies within – the truth of who we really are. This month’s Full Moon encourages us to tune in to the subtle, magical ancient landscape of our own psyches, to bring clarity and understanding to our lives in the here and now.
Embedded In A Larger Story
There is a sense of being embedded in a larger story, pulled along by the destiny of an extended timeline, as the opposing Sun and Moon, activating the air and fire Gemini-Sagittarius resonant polarity, are squaring the water and earth Pisces-Virgo nodal axis at this galactic Full Moon moment. Grounded in Earth’s sacred patterning we are reaching towards an ever-greater, heart-centered realization of our Oneness with all that is.
The truest path to any destination, however, is not always the straightest one. The ongoing conjunction of teacher Chiron and change-agent Eris is highlighting the unpredictable nature of this time of dissolution. And Saturn and Neptune together in the first degrees of pioneering Aries, along with Pluto’s sojourn through Aquarius and Uranus’ upcoming move into Gemini, promise global changes on an unprecedented scale.
To complete the movement of outer planets into new signs, Jupiter enters nurturing Cancer just two days before this Full Moon, adding to the watery theme of the current synodic cycles of both Venus (Pisces Overstory), Mars (Cancer Overstory), and Mercury (Pisces Overstory).
With this Full Moon in yang signs in square to the yin nodal axis, all in the mutable cross of service-to-spirit, we are being reminded that in order to support the current destiny path for humanity towards heart-centered, ecstatic union with the Divine, we must summon the transformative power of our own uniquely creative imaginations, and our deep desire for truth and meaning to propel us relentlessly along the path, undeterred by any obstacle.
The powerful currents of messy, metamorphic rebirth currently at play on the world stage simply cannot be negotiated from the old ways of seeing and knowing. A deep surrender to the fiery cauldron of emotions surging from the depths of our being is imperative. There is no way out but through. In the magical alchemy of our own psyches, we can discover a clearer connection to our innate intuitive knowing. In the harnessing of this inner power, and the realignment with its unerring compass, lies the key to the remaking of our world.
